2005 Fertile Egg/Chick Status: 2005

• Fertile Eggs: 23 from PWRC (18 kept; 5 sent to other institutions)
  9 from the International Crane Foundation
  2 from Audubon Species Survival Center
  1 from the Calgary Zoo
• Of the 5 Fertile Eggs sent out:
  3 were sent for the WCEP Direct Autumn Release
  2 were sent to the San Antonio Zoo to be future breeders
• Chicks Hatched: 18 from PWRC
  9 from the International Crane Foundation 1 from Audubon Species Survival Center
• Of the Hatched Chicks:
  21 were trained for the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP) project (14 PWRC, 6 ICF, 1 Aud)
  4 were kept at Patuxent for genetic diversity (2 PWRC, 2 ICF)
  1 (PWRC) was kept back for health reasons.
  2 chicks died, 1 (PWRC) euthanized due to scoliosis, 1 (ICF) died from complications from hatching
